Prep Your Yard for Spring

Powerwash Your Glass Railings

Winter debris can accumulate quickly, especially if it’s snowy or uninviting outside. Winter is the time when you get to leave the majority of your yard to its own devices, because even if you do some clean-up, it’ll likely get covered in a layer of snow anyway. But leaving things be too long will also come back to haunt you as the weather warms up again. To be ready for spring, it’s a good idea to routinely take care of your yard, deck, railings, and other outdoor spaces.

Dealing with Debris: There’s No Time Like the Present

The fact is that most winter days you won’t be able to do any debris clean-up in your yard or on decks and porches. Either you’re at work when it’s light out or the weather won’t allow for yard work. That means that you really have to take advantage of the moments when you actually can get outside for yard maintenance. If it looks like you need to clean up leaves, branches, or dead plants, it’s probably the kind of day when you can actually do it. Do it now! Cut back dead plants and clean up debris when you can.

Power Washing

Another way to make things neat and tidy for spring is to power wash your decks, patios, porches, sidewalks, and railings. Dirt, grit, ice, and water spots are likely to accumulate during winter. But come spring, it’s time to make things look like new again. Power washing is the simple way to clear it all in one go. Any glass railings can be power washed but should also be wiped dry with a lint-free cloth or newspaper to prevent streaking and water marks.

Making it your goal to include yard work in your spring cleaning routine will ensure that you can be proud of your outdoor spaces as soon as the weather is good enough to go outside and enjoy them.
